Mr. Berto Boyd, Composer and guitar expert Said to me : First guitar type of instrument was the "Oud" which was in the time when the Moors ruled Spain 711-1492. The Lute which came after the Oud appeared roughly around 1372. The vihuela appeared mid 15th century. The Baroque guitar appeared mid 16th century and then the modern guitar came around 1730 or so in classical era and continued to evolve into the late 1800's to early part of last century.
